New style of Excel add-in

Built using the latest extensibility technologies available in current versions of Microsoft 365, Velixo NX is the latest version of the Velixo Excel add-in for reporting, budgeting and automation.

Let's take a look at the features that are new or enhanced for Velixo NX.

Installation

Installing Velixo NX is a self-service process that involves no separate download or installer.  The entire installation process is handled within Excel and its connection to the Microsoft Store.

Sage Intacct

Velixo NX includes over 60 functions that are specific to working with Sage Intacct.  These include retrieving financial and project data, obtaining Sage Intacct dimensions, accessing data from Sage Intacct objects, and sending data to Intacct.

Intacct-specific Options.

The Velixo NX Options include several settings which are specific to the use of Velixo with Sage Intacct.  These include Transaction drilldown presentation, Use asynchronous data retrieval, Only load balances for accounts specified in the workbook, and Maximum number of operations per API request in Sage Intacct.

Multi-platform

Velixo NX is a modern, cross-platform add-in for Microsoft 365 Excel or Excel 2021 on Mac (Mac OS Monterey v12.3 or higher), Excel Online, and Excel for Windows.

Snapshot

The Velixo NX Snapshot feature is an extension of the older Velixo Classic ability to create a workbook without formulas. 

This feature is used to save a copy of the currently open worksheet or workbook with all Velixo or Excel functions removed from that new worksheet or workbook.

Snapshot allows a workbook/worksheet to be distributed to non-Velixo users who may want to make adjustments and recalculate that workbook.  You also have the option to remove all Excel functions as well - creating a fully static copy of the report.

Refresh

Velixo NX introduces more advanced capabilities for refreshing reports.

These each provide unique capabilities to the designer and viewers of the report.

Current Worksheet

Velixo NX will use the Velixo Smart Refresh feature to recalculate only those functions and formulas present on the currently active worksheet (as well as any worksheets that are referenced from function/formulas on the current worksheet).

Entire Workbook

Velixo NX will use the Velixo Smart Refresh feature to recalculate the entire current workbook (but will not recalculate any other open workbooks).

Full Refresh - Slow

Velixo NX will use the Velixo Full Refresh feature to reload all data associated with the Velixo functions in the current workbook.  This includes all new transactions, any transactional data that was already loaded, and any new underlying information in your database.  Because all data associated with your Velixo functions is being retrieved, this will generally take longer than a Smart Refresh.

All Open Workbooks

Velixo NX will use the Velixo Smart Refresh feature to recalculate all workbooks that are currently open in any instance of Excel.

Status

The Velixo NX Status side panel provides information about:

• any functions that are currently being calculated
• any active requests that have been sent to the ERP
• any issues that Velixo/Excel encounters with specific cells while refreshing your report

In addition to opening when the Status button on the Velixo NX ribbon is clicked, the Status panel opens automatically when one of the following operations is accessed from the Velixo NX ribbon:

• Refresh
• Perform Writeback 
• Drilldown

Table Mirroring

Many Velixo functions create Excel arrays (where a single function can return multiple rows/columns).  

Certain Velixo NX functions (GI, SI.QUERY) can express their output as either an Excel array or as an Excel table.  

Smart Links

The Velixo Smart Link feature provides the ability to create an Excel hyperlink to an existing Velixo report and allows parameters to be passed to that report from the file containing the hyperlink.

Language Support

Velixo NX supports the use of English, French, German, and Russian for its user interface (to match the current Excel language setting.

New Velixo Workbook button in Acumatica 

The New Velixo Workbook feature (installed within Acumatica with the Customization Project) allows a Velixo NX user to create a blank workbook with a pre-configured Velixo connection to Acumatica.

If the Velixo NX user previously saved credentials for the same connection, the file will be immediately usable; otherwise, the Velixo NX user will simply be prompted to enter their credentials in the automatically displayed Connection Editor.

Advanced Options

The Forget all connection credentials setting allows you to require that new credentials be entered for all connections in the workbook.

Clear all Velixo data caches provides the same functionality as clicking the Clear Cache button on the Velixo NX ribbon button but does so for all connections at one time.
